Out of the Mouths of Babes...and Dudes- John Bytheway

"I always wondered how people could say. " I love you" to people they don't even know, but now I realize that we all knew each other well a long time before. We're really just finally meeting up with old friends. "

Pregnancy

Things to Pay attention to before you are starting to plan on getting pregnant:
1. Do you have a lack of Folic acid in the diet(at least 3 months before you become pregnant)
2. Stop consuming Alcohol (to avoid fetal alcohol syndrom)
3. Use of certain medicines should be stopped or switched. Like aspirin or medications.
4. Use of Herbal therapies
5. Job-related hazards and stresses
6. Smoking- best if stopped completly but at lest reduce to almost nothing
7. Inadequate intake of vitamins such to little of Iron, Magnesium, zinc
8. Excess vitamin A intake or taking a megadose of other nutrient supplements
9. Heavy caffeine intakes
10. Lack of medical treatment with HIV-positive status or AIDS
11. Poor control of diabetes or hypertension
12. X-Ray exposure even dentist x-rays

These are all things that we can change before we start trying for a baby.

How much more do you truly need to eat while pregnant. Do you need to eat for two now that there is two of you? (no)

Lets take a healthy active 24 women. Generally should would consume 2200 calories a day. So when she gets pregnant she needs to increase her calorie intake to...in her:
First trimester: she just needs to eat that same amount 2200.
Second trimester: needs to increase about 350-450 more calories
Third trimester: 350-450 more calories
So depending on how you look at that that could be just 1 candy bar. Hopefully that's not how you spend that extra needed calories. Hopefully it is in nutrient dense foods. But that is all you are increasing your intake.

So let look at each group and what that could be in.
So before and in the first trimester she should consume(2200):
3 cups of calcium rich foods
6 ounce-equivalents from meats and beans
3 cups vegetables
2 cups fruit
7 ounces from the grains
6 teaspoons oil

In her second and third trimester she should consume: ( so now she is consuming a total of 2600 calories)
3 cups calcium rich foods
6 1/2 ounce-equivalents meat and beans
3 1/2 cups vegetables
2 Cups fruit
8 ounces from the grains
7 teaspoons of oil( hopefully most comes from fish oils)

Now if eating is going properly you should be gaining a pound a week. Healthy weight gain is very important.

If your preprgancy weight is Low and have a BMI that is less the 19.8 you need to gain 28-40 pounds during your pregnancy

If your weight is Normal and you have a BMI that is between 19.8-25.9 you need to gain 25-35 pounds.

If your weight is High and your BMI is between 26-29 you need to gain 15-25 pounds.

If you are classified as Obese so your BMI is greater than 29 you need to gain at elast 15 pounds maybe more.

To find out your BMI you take you weight and hieght.

The weight you are gaining is not all fat you now. It is divided between a couple of things, like:
the fetus, placenta, and the amniotic fluids 11 pounds (fetus itself 8)
Blood 4 pounds
Uterus and breast 6 pounds
Maternal fat stores 4-8 pounds
and thats were you get your 25-30 pounds

Water!

Hailey loves the water. Everything about it. If their is water available i just know to come to expect her to be wet by the time were done. It is so cute to watch her. In and out splashing all around.

Technology

It is amazing at how fast children pick things up. Hailey can already climb up on the car and use the mouse--as in she can put her hand on it and use the scroll tool and click. Of course she dose not yet fully know what everything really does and what it means but she can do that.

If only there was a program that was out there that you loaded up on your computer and when you were done you just logged into it for idle so if your kids get on the computer the program is open and ever button/button combo does something different and educational- She would love it and then to get out of it just enter a password. And then your kids never messed anything up they just learned. How perfect would that be! That's my idea. So if anyone know of the program and its cheap or they feel like creating it. Hook me up with it.

Fourth of July

We wake up and make a festive breakfast of blue pancakes with strawberries but unfortunately we forgot the whip cream so we just counted the milk as white. It was pretty good.
Then we headed to the Parade. Not the best but it worked. Hailey found things to keep her occupied while we waited until it started. She pushed her stroller and around and put rocks back in to the bed.
Also before the parade the firefighters were out playing. They were letting kids come out in the street and use the hose--how cool. They set something up on one of those tall cones and the kids tried to shoot it down.
They also set up the Flag and supposedly if you paid some amount of money they would have let you clime to the top. We should have gone to really see if that as true. Once in a life time opportunity there!
The parade started, it was pretty good. My fellow Americana's were in there--looking really good. This i the largest shopping cart i have ever seen!
This car was Jason's favorite part. The doors, you can't really tell but they flip up with a push of a button. So cool. The guy was just driving down the road opening and closing both doors. SO COOL- every boys dream now is to own that car...
But if you look closely at the children in the pictures. Have you ever seen kids that close to the floats? crazy they were out there literally taking the candy out of their hands there. Which was sad because you know how they all do their crazy driving or stunts. Well they coulsn;t cause they didn't have room. They did them before and after us but not infront of us because of the kids...
Then later that night we went to Idaho Falls for the fire works. We droped Hailey off at Her Gradparents ( ThankYou) and then we headed off too meet up with Jason friends. It was a lot of fun. The fireworks were good as always- nice 30 minute show and a great fanially.

Zoo

So Hailey and I went to the zoo with my sister in law and her son Andrew. It was a ton of fun until it rained...errrrrrrr...We had the choice of going to the petting animals and the cool new bears and the lions first, but I said "no, i want to save those until last". But that sure didn't happen...It started raining, so we tried to wait it out at the pavillion but when we thought it was good to go we went out saw maybe two more animals and it started pooring. We were so close to seeing the cool animals. We thought we would stop real quick and the pettying animals but they locked them all up.
So we ran out...lame!
So next time I'm not saving the coolest for last. Their First!!!
It was still fun though we say majority of all the animals. Hailey really like finding them i their cagese. Well the ones that moved. She thought the mokeys were pretty cool...but who wouldn't. So it was still worth it to go and it was a ton of fun hangin out with Annette too.

Brushing teeth!

She loves brushing her teeth. The tooth paste is not even that big of the deal, she just likes the tooth brush and the water.
Because she keeps her tooth brushes near our she some times grabs the wrong one...well purposefully grabs the wrong one. So the other day i wondered what she would think if i turned it on. She loved it even more. She kept her mouth open the hole time so i could get them all brushed in one try. It think the next step is getting her her own electrical tooth brush- they do say they work better.
Gotta rinse...lol Normal parents teach their children to rinse with a cup not me--right out of the sink.
She loves it!

Hanging out

Just us girls hanging out on the counter.

Peaches

This is Hailey's favorite spot to hang out. Right in the kitchen window on the counter. For a couple reasons i think. 1 cause she can see what i am doing(cooking/cleaning) and 2 because she can see out the window and 3 she gets food. This is her eating a Peach. At first she wasn't too sure but once i think she got past the weird fuzz texture she loved it!

Mesa Falls

So today we didn't have school and we wanted to get out and have fun. So we went and did something . We went to Mesa falls. this was actually Jason's first time there-my second. It was a tone of fun. We did the tourism stuff. Like stopping at the scenic pull overs and the reading stuff. This was the fist one we pulled over at. I have never seen such a great view of these mountains like this. The are so beautiful. Were you park-which now cost 5 dollars-There is a little visitor center that has cool stuff in it.
They had over furs, Claws, bug, skulls, foot prints, and antlers. It was fun to go in there and touch the furs. They had like 20 or something. They even had a porcupine-crazy. But they wouldn't let you touch the skulls...
not the most friendly polite sign we have ever seen but it is kinda funny.
Then we headed to the Upper falls. Nice wood pathways.
It sure was pretty. The rainbow is what amazed me.
I wonder if there is any gold and the end of that one?
Then after taking pictures and looking around we hiked down to the Lower falls. It is about a 1 mile hike not that bad at all the trail is nice and worn down- but boy are their bugs! Jason got eaten alive. For some reason they REALLY like him.
Was the Hike worth it...Kinda we were close but not the best angle to see it. If we were with out Hailey we probably would have climbed down some of the paths that led down there(little scary) But it sure would have been fun to get close to it.
We took a little break and thought Hailey might like to hike it back- didn't last long but she sure loved walking around out there.
Then we thought we would drive to the lower falls and see it from the look out. You see that grey area, well that grasses area right above there is where we hiked too pretty close. There is that dark brown trail that we wanted to go down, but to get there is a little difficult.

But this sure was fun! Next we want to go the the caves falls. Which is on the way to Mesa falls but you just take a right allittle sooner. So hopefully some time soon well be able to go check it out.

Our little Snug Bug

I love how little children sleep. I had to wake Hailey up to go over to the Folwers so I could go to class. Thank you Carrie. When i walked in a just had to say ahh...shes so cute and so I took a picture.
